Code of Conduct
Ascendant

(noun): A position of dominance or controlling influence; Possession of power and superiority
(adjective): Superior; Dominant in position and influence

Ascendant Charter

Ascendant aspires to be a dominant endgame guild. This goal includes both PvE and PvP content. Second place is for losers, we are not losers. There is only room at the top for one guild, and that guild is Ascendant. If you play with Ascendant, you play to win. If you do not play to win, you do not play with Ascendant and may as well stay home attached to your mommy's tit. If aspiring to be the best isn't your objective you should go find a carebear guild to join - we'll be looking to kill you and your friends in the border lands.

Ascendant Code of Conduct

As a prominent organization within Age of Conan, Ascendant strives to earn and maintain the respect of other guilds and players throughout the community. We value strength, honor, and integrity and expect members to represent these traits. As a member your actions reflect on every member of the team. It is therefore necessary to understand and abide by the following Code of Conduct while playing your character(s). While violations will lead to reprimands, adherence will lead to a positive reputation for us all.

General
  • Be helpful.
  • Drama = BANNED.
  • Be an active player.
  • Give help and you will receive help.
  • When grouping, always join a guild group.
  • If guild groups are full, form a new guild group.
  • Pick-up groups should always be an absolute last resort.
  • Age of Conan is a mature rated game, and Ascendant is a mature rated guild.
  • Have fun. When it gets frustrating, take a breather. Being PO'd is no reason to start ruining someone else's day.
  • Don't fall for troll bait. I know you don't like what was just said in public chat - just let it go.
  • Speak softly and carry a sharp sword - there's no need to be a stuck-up ass in public chat channels.
  • We are Ascendant. We are the best. We don't need to advertise the fact in a snobbish manner, everyone knows it already. If they don't know it already, they'll figure it out while bleeding on our swords.
  • Members should never hide their guild badge. This includes going anonymous. /Roleplay is acceptable and encouraged to hide your location within the world.
  • Ascendant members will not join other guilds. This includes any and all alternate characters. Being found to have joined another guild constitutes a conflict of interests and will be grounds for dismissal.
  • When in doubt, help a guildmate out.

Guild Chat and Forums
  • Talk it up. This is a social guild so regular conversation is welcome.
  • If you need information, ask a guildie first instead of spamming public channels.
  • We all slip out with profanity occasionally, just don't let it get excessive.
  • No abusive language will be tolerated. Bustin' a guildies chops jokingly is ok. Don't let it get out of hand - joke, laugh, move on.
  • No open arguments in guild chat. Take it to /tell if you have to.
  • In game chat rules apply equally when posting on our web site's forums.
  • Members are expected to visit the Ascendant web site regularly. Communication is key to success, and our web site is an instrumental tool in facilitating open communication. Checking the site for news and updates before logging in would be an ideal routine to adapt.
  • Members should be willing to give AND receive constructive criticism. Members are encouraged to share their observations and offer suggestions on how improvements to play style and execution can be made. Anyone offering such constructive criticism should post their ideas in the appropriate forum on our web site, taking care to thoroughly consider their wording. The member receiving such constructive criticism should take note of the suggestions and apply them to verify whether or not it does improve their game. If the suggestion does prove to have a positive effect, acknowledge it so others adopt the practice. If the suggestion proves meritless, calmly state the fact and move on. No member should interpret such observations and suggestions as flaming - there is no room for over-sensitive egotistical pride here.
  • Attempts to flame another member under the guise of constructive criticism will be immediately deleted and won't see the light of day. Forum moderators will err on the side of caution to avoid unnecessary drama. If you believe your post was legitimately constructive, but misinterpreted - communicate the fact with guild leadership and repost your observations as deemed appropriate.

Raiding and Guild Events
  • TEAMSPEAK IS MANDATORY
  • There will be at least 4 formal guild events weekly.
  • Events will be scheduled with plenty of advance notice.
  • Members are expected to be ready and present at the prescribed meeting location by 7:45pm EST on event nights.
  • All events will begin at 8pm EST. Not 8:01. Not 8:15. 8pm SHARP. Members who consistently delay the start of events will initially be penalized raid credit, and ultimately find themselves looking for a new guild.
  • Being online during a guild event and refusing to participate will be grounds for dismissal from Ascendant. We are a team - by joining Ascendant you are acknowledging your willingness and desire to be a team player.

Leaving
  • If you are thinking about leaving Ascendant, please talk it over with an officer first. If you have concerns, let's at least see if there are ways to address them.
  • Please do NOT post public applications with other guilds while you are still a member of Ascendant. Such action is disrespectful and will lead to your former guildmates making your corpse, and those of your new carebear friends, look like brutalized roadkill.
  • If you do decide to leave Ascendant all rank, DKP, and other related credit will be forfeited.

And Finally, The Golden Rule...

DON'T BE AN ASSHAT!
